With a length of over 360 milimeters and a weight of over one kilogram, a truly epoch-making metal model - the Simson Schwalbe KR 51/1 in large scale 1:5 from Schuco. Manufactured in the "Fahrzeug- und Jagdwaffenwerk Ernst Thälmann", the Simson factories in Suhl, the Schwalbe represented the first model of the so-called bird series of Simson from the year 1964. The "Star", "Spatz", "Sperber" and "Habicht" models were also produced in Suhl in not inconsiderable numbers. However, with a production output of over one million units, the Schwalbe outshines all predecessor and successor models, making it the most successful two-wheeler in German two-wheeler history in terms of unit sales. Its exactly 49.6 cc, air-cooled single-cylinder engine produced 3.4 hp at 6500 rpm and helped the Simson Schwalbe reach a top speed of 60 kilometers per hour after all.
