More and more, the Simson Schwalbe has become a popular customizing vehicle in recent years. A huge scene has developed around the conversion of the cult moped for conversions and corresponding accessories. Schuco is now also taking this development into account and is launching the Simson Schwalbe Custom III, the third "pimped" Schwalbe. Painted in noble gray metallic, only a limited number of copies ofthis "hot" Schwalbe will appear.

In terms of production quantity, the Simson Swallow is the most successful two-wheeler in Germany‘s history with over a million units produced. Manufactured in the „Fahrzeug- und Jagdwaffenwerk Ernst Thälmann“ division within the Simson company in Suhl, from 1964 onwards the swallow was the first model of Simson‘s newly developed series with bird names. Mopeds such as the „sparrow“, „starling“, „sparrow-hawk“ and „hawk“ were also produced in Suhl in considerable numbers.
